SPACE PLANNING INFORMATION - Questions and Answers to building a new office facility.
Electrical Questions:
How do I
get our new suite to have the right number of circuits for our equipment?
Why
do I care about circuits?
-To answer the second question first. Circuits
provide the connect to the electrical panel to power the electrical outlets in
the walls which power the equipment. If you have too many pieces of equipment
on one circuit the equipment will shut down.
-So to the first question, each
circuit should not have more than 2390 watts of equipment on it, less is safer.
This assumes that the electrical outlets are 20amp outlets. 20 amp outlets are
the current rating for outlets, but confirm that they are with building. If there
is more than 2400 watts of equipment feeding that circuit it will power down.
An office space could have eight duplex electrical outlets per circuit assuming
the equipment on those eight duplexes do not add to more than 2390 watts. To find
how many circuits you need to have, you need to know the number of watts per equipment
in your office. The watts can be located by the equipment manual or noted on the
equipment.
