A few comments on the Wilshire Center Streetscape Project:

"Travel down the Boulevard today and you can see the results of this effort," says Mayor Richard Riordan. "The local property and business owners who have invested in their community have shown commitment to their neighbors, the city and all Angelenos. Street trees, box trees and date palms now line the street. Green medians with tree shaded flower gardens dot the landscape with refreshing patches of color. Benches, kiosks, and shelters invite pedestrians to stop and enjoy this new Wilshire Center, while new sidewalks and street crossings invite all to explore the beauty and the creativity," he says.

"Gary Russell, an architect, is spearheading an effort to create a greener, more livable environment in the high-rise corridor just west of downtown Los Angeles. Already, nearly 2,000 trees have been planted throughout the area, part of a comprehensive effort to link the commercial boulevard with the surrounding multi?family residential area."
